About Us

We provide spaces where you can celebrate, collaborate, commemorate in a private, beautiful, outdoor setting. On the Lawn, you can spread out and easily access the river. This area is ideal for larger groups with a spacious flat grassy area for events of just about any kind. Nancy's Secret Garden is a shady grass circle surrounded by mature trees - ideal for smaller groups. The East Overlook is closest to parking and restrooms with limited river views. The Long Way is right down on the river with equal parts shade and sun.  Each spot has some shade, fire ring, a table and seating of some kind.

Here's the Skinny

Every event is different so pricing varies; please contact us to discuss.

In general, we have a 2 hour minimum and 8 hour maximum rental. Attendance is limited to by staff after thorough consultation, primarily based on parking limitations. While some seating is provided, we ask guests to bring a camping chair for informal events. For more formal gatherings requiring tables/chairs/tents etc., we can recommend vendors. While we do not currently provide event planning services, we can connect you with all the right people. Our venue IS handicap accessible - just ask for that accommodation if needed.

A note about Amenities and Grounds

Friends, as this is our 1st season open we are still bringing amenities online. Currently we provide Port a Johns for restrooms while our permanent restrooms are under renovation. Likewise, our kitchenette for guests is not up and running yet either.  We are up to our elbows in planting! This is our 1st growing season and we've already planted over 150 native trees, shrubs, and live stakes as well as many thousands of native wildflower seeds and plugs. Full beatification will take a season (or three) but in the meantime stunning views of New River are more than enough to make all your guests glad they came to your event at the Fairlawn Riverfront!

Safety on the River

River-goers must follow all relevant regulations.

  • Fishers: check here for more info: https://dwr.virginia.gov/fishing/regulations/.
  • Swimmers: all guests under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult over 21.  It is strongly advised that all river goers bring life vests and water shoes to wear if planning to play in the river. Expect rocky uneven underwater surfaces with variable depth
  • Tubers: we have a terrific spot to stop for lunch as you tube down the New - be sure to follow all applicable regulations! Check https://dwr.virginia.gov/vbwt/sites/new-river-paddle-route-radford/ for more information.

Parking

Parking is available on site.  Handicap parking/drop off is allowed down on the Lawn in a designated area - please let us know if any of your guests need this extra accommodation. Note: the parking elevation is higher than the event spaces so your guests will need to walk down slopes or steps to access your riverfront event.
